I have been a teacher for twenty years (certified in English and general biology), and I currently work with the New Teacher Center’s (NTC) National Teacher Induction team. Prior to joining NTC, I served at the School Redesign Network (Stanford University) and National Academy for Excellent Teaching (Columbia University).
Over my career, I developed and taught English and environmental humanities course to students in public schools (MI and NV) and colleges (NV and CT) as well as literacy courses for preservice teachers at Teachers College (Columbia). My professional service also includes positions as a teacher mentor (pre- and in-service), small schools advisor and literacy coach, PDS board member and liaison, service-learning coordinator, and writing center director.
An interesting thing about my current professional service: my wife and I serve as Resident Fellows @ Stanford—living with and supporting a team of upper-division student staff in a residence with 100 first-year students. My two children will have interesting stories to tell. . . .
