How does a teacher begin a more teacher directed inquiry? The following video introduces how one teacher begins engaging her students with the inquiry process. The teacher begins to lead her students into the inquiry process using the process of observations. While watching the video, notice how she uses student observation as a place for students to begin generating questions about crickets for their research.
CONSIDER THIS:
As you watch this video...
- How you create a culture of questioning and/or observation in your classroom?
- How might introducing the process of inquiry through the use of science process skills, strengthen the lesson and student understanding?
- How can you take an existing lesson or lab and have students think about other questions to ask?
