Limited Inquiry Overview

In this module, you will be introduced to the process of inquiry teaching. We provide examples and steps to guide you through the elements of teaching inquiry through the lens of a more teacher centered approach.

As you move through the examples, you will be asked to reflect and build your teaching practice around the following concepts:

  • Using the Inquiry Continuum to reflect on your teaching practice. Can the continuum be used with students directly to build on their inquiry skill sets in the science classroom?
  • Building techniques of inquiry into your own teaching practice, especially relating to modifying existing lessons to make them more inquiry based.
  • Differentiating between inquiry and “hands-on” science: how are they the same, and how are they different?
