Impacting Student Learning by Accelerating Teacher Effectiveness

While it’s great to see experts highlighting the importance of new teacher induction, nothing communicates the benefits of our work more than hearing directly from new teachers like Jessica Haslam, who called her first year in the classroom the hardest year of her life. Haslam, an elementary school teacher, could have left the profession. Thanks to her mentor, she stayed and became a better teacher.

Jessica’s story is featured in another just-released New Teacher Center video, “Impacting Student Learning by Accelerating Teacher Effectiveness.” We’ve made this video and the “Voices” video we introduced in our March issue available on New Teacher Center’s YouTube Channel. We hope you enjoy hearing their stories and share them with your colleagues so more people gain a better understanding of how instruction-focused mentoring accelerates teacher effectiveness, improves student achievement and needs support and funding going forward.
