The New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national organization dedicated to improving student learning by accelerating the effectiveness of teachers and school leaders. NTC strengthens school communities 
through proven mentoring and professional development programs, online learning environments, policy advocacy, and essential research.
New teachers and administrators are typically placed in the most difficult assignments. Many of their careers will not survive this trial by fire. In contrast, the NTC has a demonstrable record of achievement, with long-term new teacher retention rates as high as 95%, compared to a nationwide dropout rate of nearly 50%. NTC partners with school districts, policymakers, and leaders in education to design and implement comprehensive, mentor-based support programs that improve teacher retention, build career pathways, and transform schools into vibrant learning communities.
NTC was initially establis
hed in 1998 as part of the University of California at Santa Cruz. In July 2009, in order to better serve our clients across the country, we began operating as an independent non-profit. Our mission, products and services remain the same.
